Does Cabo San Lucas Needs Another Big Supermarket?

Not in downtown, we think. Walmart has announced that it has filed construction plans to obtain a permit to build their second Walmart in the middle of downtown Cabo San Lucas. The new store, if approved by our city fathers, would be located in the empty lot between Puerto Paraiso and McDonald’s. The Los Cabos Downtown business association has already voiced its opposition to the project, citing that this would worsen the already heavy vehicle traffic in the area. We think so too. Oh, and there’s already a Chedraui Selecto planned inside the Puerto Paraiso Mall. Why not build the new Walmart on the road to the Cabo San Lucas airport, which is highly populated?

No, we do not need another Walmart in downtown, it was nice to see the Freska by the home Depot, but keep the big box stores out of downtown….
THE SPOT NEAR THE AIRPORT ROAD WOULD BE MORE BENEFICIAL FINANCIALLY THAN DOWNTOWN…… FIRST OFF MOSTLY IN TOWN ARE TOURISTS…AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO BIG SHOPPING AND HAVE TO SCHLEP IT BACK TO THEIR RESORT……… AND SECONDLY…. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT…. TRAFFIC WOULD BE BAD……BUT ON THE WAY TO OR FROM THE AIRPORT…..MANY TOURISTS THAT NEED TO STOP AT THE STORE ON THEIR WAY IN TO THEIR RESORTS IN SAN LUCAS…..WOULD MAKE A GREAT STOP THERE AND DO THEIR SHOPPING ON THEIR WAY TO CHECK..IN……ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE NOT GOING TO RENT A CAR…… THEY CAN TAKE A TAXI OR UBER AND NOT SPEND MUCH TO GO TO THE STORE…… WE ALL STOP AND GET OUR LOTIONS AND OTHER SUPPLIES…… RATHER THAN PACK ALL OF THAT IN A CARRY ON……
Another no from me. Traffic is bad enough downtown. On the north side would benefit the locals that would shop it.
