 Spay and Neuter Becomes Mandatory

The Southern Baja State congress approved Decree number 2776, which states that “Stray dogs and cats that are found and rescued and not claimed by its owners, will be mandatory spayed and neutered by the state health system.” The original proposition was filed by Melissa Perez, a law student of the state’s university. Congress will now form a commission to define in detail how the new law will be applied. This is the first such law in Mexico.
