Between Cardones And Tides – Poetry

Entre Cardones y Mareas (Tides), part of the series “Letras en Plenilunio,” is a cultural gathering dedicated to poetry and artistic expression inspired by the landscapes and identity of Baja California Sur. Scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th at 7:00 PM, the event will take place at the Explanada de Casa de Cultura in Cabo San Lucas, offering free admission to the public.
This event brings together award-winning poets recognized in the LIII Juegos Florales “Margarito Sández Villarino,” including Mercedes Reynoso and Julia González, who will present works that reflect the spirit, emotions, and cultural richness of the region. Their poetry is expected to evoke themes connected to the desert (“cardones”) and the sea (“mareas”), creating a strong sense of place and identity.
In addition to the literary presentations, the program features special artistic collaborations that expand the experience beyond poetry. Highlights include a Polynesian dance performance titled “Un Viaje a las Islas del Pacífico” by Mana Loa Danzas Polinesias, a live musical participation by professional singer Luis Felipe Bernal, and a folkloric dance presentation by Yaxx’in Grupo de Danza Folklórica Mexicana. These elements combine to create a multidisciplinary event that blends literature, music, and dance.
Overall, “Entre Cardones y Mareas” offers a unique cultural experience that celebrates local talent and artistic diversity under a thematic and atmospheric setting, inviting attendees to connect with poetry and performance in an open, community-centered space.
