Ready, set, woof! Experience the thrill of Canicross, the cross-country running sport where you and your dog tackle the trails together. Participants are connected to their dogs via a harness and bungee cord, allowing the dog to lead while the runner provides direction through commands. Whether you’re running with one or two dogs, Canicross is a test of teamwork and endurance that’s gaining traction worldwide—and Baja is no exception.
Join us for the “Canicross Etocane K-9, BCS” event, co-hosted by Baja California Sur University and Etocane K9, a La Paz club known for its comprehensive dog training programs. This event isn’t just about sport; it’s about celebrating our love for pets and supporting local animal welfare organizations.
The action unfolds at the La Paz University Campus on March 1, with registration at 7:00 am. Participants can choose from a 2.4-mile race across three weight classes or opt for a 2.4-mile walk individually or a 1-mile family stroll.
Entry fees are $12.5 for any race and just $10 for the walk. Each participant will receive a runner's kit, a dog scarf, a participation medal, and hydration at the finish line. Prize winners in the race categories will enjoy rewards including dog food, toys, an oil painting, and free veterinary consultations. Walk participants will receive a participation medal.
Don’t have a dog? No worries! Dogs in need of homes will be available for adoption on the day of the event, giving everyone a chance to join in the fun.
Throughout the event, the university’s Academic Department of Animal Science and Habitat Conservation will be on hand to provide valuable insights into animal care, health, and wellness.
