Alaska Airlines Returns to La Paz.The new Los Angeles – La Paz flight by Alaska Airlines touched the tarmac Wednesday for one of their 2 weekly flights this year on Wednesday and Saturday. It is expected the demand will call for 3 flights a week in early 2025. The aircraft is a 76-seater Embraer 176 but it will help increase the number of people visiting La Paz, which went up 8.3% between January and October. Welcome Alaska!

San Jose del Cabo City Dump on Fire. The City dump, located in Palo Escopeta, northeast of San Jose del Cabo, went up in flames on Wednesday, November 20. An estimated 14 hectares (almost 35 acres) were burning. Firemen and women took immediate action and the next morning, the fire was controlled. Unfortunately, garbage trucks can’t go in so they have to drive to La Paz. The Cabo San Lucas city dump, located at Migriño, is closed due to a legal brouhaha between the city government and the company operating it – who were fired but won’t leave – the garbage trucks also have to drive to La Paz. Mayor Christian Agundez launched a massive garbage collection campaign just last week as the trash was piling up everywhere due to a lack of trucks. Sigh.
