And the renewal of La Perla is among them
The Secretary of Tourism and Economy of Baja California Sur, Maribel Collins, announced the construction of a thousand new hotel rooms is planned for 2025, mainly in the municipalities of Los Cabos and La Paz, with the aim of strengthening tourism infrastructure in the region.
La Perla Hotel in the state capital with a rich history will be rebuilt as it is being incorporated into the Hilton hotel chain. Collins highlighted that although there are delays in some work, it is expected to be completed by the middle of this year.
La Perla Hotel construction began in the 1930s and it was inaugurated in 1940. The aim was to create a representative model hotel, which would highlight the image of the town as a place to visit.
The building occupied the best location in the port seeking to improve the image of La Paz. It was built by the engineer Meneandro Cárdenas and had two floors with 25 rooms, the La Terraza restaurant and the La Cabaña nightclub.
Hotel Perla represented the architectural modernization of the city, through the introduction of the so-called “Californian style”, which meant important innovations in construction to make it the jewel of the city.
