Big news for anyone who’s had enough of the bumper-to-bumper grind from Cerro Colorado to San Jose! The Infrastructure & Communications Secretariat (SICT) has just given the green light for a new detour road that’s going to make our lives a little easier. The technical plans are all set, and the construction crews are scheduled to break ground in 2025.
This new stretch of road will connect Cerro Colorado directly to the toll road leading to the airport, bypassing the busiest parts and dropping you off just past the toll booths at San Jose’s entrance. It’s designed to cut down on the daily traffic snarl, helping everyone get where they’re going a bit faster. Unfortunately, it won’t do much for the congestion around the Fonatur glorieta. We’ll need to wait a bit longer for that relief—an overpass is in the plans, but funding is still up in the air, waiting for the federal thumbs-up.
As they say here in Mexico, “algo es algo” — something is better than nothing, right? So, keep your ears open and stay tuned. Relief is on the way, and it’s coming down the road in 2025!
