 Mexico Suspends Permits to Foreigners

Who own property within the “Restricted Zone.” Mexico’s Department of Foreign Relations (S.R.E.), the agency responsible for issuing permits to foreigners in the “Restricted Zone” who apply for permits so they may have title to Mexican property in a Fideicomiso (Bank Trust) ha temporarily suspended issuing new ones. The Restricted Zone is all land bordering Mexican beaches, rivers and lakes. The reason for the suspension is that the Department is updating its computer and data system. Applicants before August 27 will be honored. Meanwhile it is be possible to receive title as a “Promise of Trust” and take possession of the property.
