A group of volunteers from the Los Cabos Sea Turtle Protection program were surprised when a CBS crew approached them willing to participate in releasing baby sea turtles. Leading the CBS team was Peter Greenberg, known as The Travel Detective and host of the Eye on Travel program. Greenberg is not new to our state as he has filmed here before, but it was the first time that he released and documented baby turtles. The rescue of turtle eggs and release period began in August and, so far, 800 baby turtles have been successfully released and there are over 2,000 eggs waiting to hatch under supervision. These are not tombs, they’re tags indicating when the eggs were rescued and buried. They also indicate the estimate hatching date.
