This can be so much fun
Seth Vázquez, president of the Madrugadores Group—a nonprofit organization formed by citizens and businesspeople in Los Cabos—highlighted one of their main projects aimed at revitalizing the local area by promoting activities for both locals and visitors.
Merchants have noted that during 2024, sales decreased by up to 50%, highlighting an increased need to enhance urban infrastructure, improve the visual appeal of businesses, and implement effective sales strategies to navigate the low season. With the high season approaching and 2025 on the horizon, Vázquez is optimistic about changing the dynamics within the tourist center. The group has also met with local delegate Karina de la O to seek support for improving cleanliness, lighting, and managing sewage issues.
Downtown Cabo was once a vibrant hub, bustling with people enjoying drinks, shopping, and the nightlife. “We want to unite groups like ours to work collaboratively towards revitalizing this area,” Vázquez stated.
The exciting proposal on the table is to develop a Cycle Route from Amelia Wilkes Plaza and its environs, creating safe pathways that connect to hotels and developments in the area. “We envision tourists exploring downtown on bicycles, which not only opens opportunities for new businesses, such as bicycle rentals, but also includes potential bicycle stations at hotels. This initiative will allow visitors to fully experience everything the center has to offer,” explained Vázquez.
