Big shoutout to our local heroes! It was quite a scene in Todos Santos as teamwork made the dream work. After about nine intense hours, the fire that kicked off at the city dump around 11:40 AM last Friday has finally been contained. It took a coordinated effort from the firemen and women of La Paz, Todos Santos, and Pescadero, not to mention the hardworking local volunteers, police, National Guard, public services, and the water supply agency to get the situation under control.
While the immediate danger is over, there’s still a bit of smoke hanging around in the area. Authorities are on top of it, though, and they’ve been advising everyone nearby to stay sharp and take necessary precautions to stay safe.
In related news, the fire at the Cabo San Lucas dump, which had been a stubborn one, has also been declared extinguished after a grueling 17 days. The locals there aren’t out of the woods just yet, as gusts of smoky wind are still a nuisance. Residents are hopeful, however, that this marks the end of what’s been a long and smoky ordeal.
