Today, the Gringo Gazette turns 30 years old. This is a milestone, especially when printed newspapers are losing ground to internet-based news sites and social media.
First started in 1994 by Carrie Duncan and later purchased in 2019 by Reid and Wright Advertising, the Gringo Gazette has swam through troubled waters, fought a few lawsuits (that we won), immigration corruption, the 2008 economy meltdown, 2014 Hurricane Odile, Covid-19 and a few more hard times. But we have survived “With no bad news.”
Yet, we are here, providing you with the news you crave, exposing government flaws, supporting concerned citizens’ efforts from rescuing abandoned pets to protecting the fragile eco-system of the Baja Peninsula, to demanding improvements in mobility, streets and highway, garbage pickup services, water supply and many more city needs.
Today, we are revamping our website, expanding our influence to social media, and supporting worthy causes throughout the BCS such as efforts to rescue the San Jose estuary, salvaging the boats that sunk in the La Paz Bay, protecting sea turtles and the flora and fauna of Baja California Sur. We continue to voice the concerns of residents on different areas such as water supply, safety, traffic, conscious development and, in general, protecting our environment.
All the above could not be possible without the support of our thousands of readers, many of which have followed us throughout all these years, and of the businesses that have trusted us with their advertising.
We thank you from our hearts and we hope that we have fulfilled your expectations.
Sincerely, the Gringo Gazette team.
Publisher, Reid Keebaugh, and the staff, David Flores, Oliver Quintero, Alejandra Saráchaga, Patty Hinojosa, Tere Cuadras, Tony Fuentes, Mario Polanco and our team of journalists and writers.
