The wooden classroom used by approximately 35 children from La Ballena, Puerto Nuevo, and Nueva Esperanza neighborhoods was deliberately set on fire, resulting in extensive damage, including the loss of books and educational materials. The National Council of Education Promotion, which supports underserved communities, has yet to secure funding for a replacement concrete classroom. Consequently, local residents are appealing for donations of building materials rather than monetary contributions.
As the 2024-2025 school year commences on August 26, there is a pressing need to reconstruct the classroom promptly. Efforts are underway to gather the necessary resources to ensure that the children have a suitable learning environment by the start of the new academic term. For those interested in contributing materials or offering support, contact information is available at (624) 126-8813 & (624) 159-7240.
Community solidarity and support are crucial to overcoming this setback and providing the children with a conducive space for education and growth.
