The 14th Annual Knick NAC golf tournament, held at the exclusive Querencia golf course in San Jose, had 92 golfers playing and 127 attending the evening dinner.
The event also marked Liga MAC’S 27th anniversary celebration when 8 women from Mexico, Canada, and the US formed this organization.
After the scramble tournament, it was announced that the event was a record success because of the complete sell-out of their 22 silent auction items which offered everything from local golf rounds to dinners, Tequila tastings, to a wonderful 2-night stay at Pittomrie castle in St. Andrews, Scotland, the home of golf. These funds will benefit over 300 children whose educational needs are supported by Liga MAC.
Because Mexico only requires children to attend school through early high school, the Liga MAC support allows children to continue their education. Education is a critical component necessary to advance Mexico.
The record-breaking donation exceeded $60,000 USD and was supported through the generosity of Tom and Bonnie McCloskey, who own Querencia, their members, corporate SJD sponsors, silent auction items and donated money.
All proceeds go directly to Liga MAC as this money will help them operate their beautiful new Learning Centre. The Centre took a year to build at a cost of over 1,500,000 USD and will allow more children to advance their social growth as well as their scholastic abilities.
