Los Cabos Wine Festival Sets Date. The very first Mexican Wine Festival will take place on Saturday, October 7 at the Los Cabos Golf Resort (formerly Country Club Cabo San Lucas) from noon to 8 p.m. There will be wines from around a dozen Mexican wineries and live music. Lots More Police Cruisers Deployed Along Our Highways. Governor Victor Castro announced the delivery of dozens of National Guard cruisers by the state government. With this addition, the National Guard in our state has over 100 cruisers, which will maintain vigilance along the Transpeninsular highway from Los Cabos to La Paz, including the tourist corridor, the most dangerous. Hopefully this will reduce the high number of car wrecks that we are having now.
Public Charter Jet Service Does Cabo. JSX, an American air carrier in the United States and Mexico that describes itself as a “hop-on jet service” will restart flying to Cabo in October. The flights will leave Los Angeles LAX and land in the Cabo San Lucas airport on Sunday, Monday, Friday and Saturday every week, for $599 USD. Hop on and come visit us!
Fly Non-Stop from B.C. to Cabo Starting in November. You can fly non-stop from Kelowna, British Columbia International Airport to Los Cabos this winter, said Kelowna airport director Sam Samaddar. The flights will be weekly on Saturdays with WestJet starting November 4 with prices starting at $254 one-way Kelowna-Cabo and $241 for Cabo-Kelowna. All-inclusive packages are also available through WestJet. Come on down, you will be welcome!
Government Improving Downtown Cabo. At a follow-up meeting with the Empresarios de Los Cabos (Los Cabos Entrepreneurs Association), the City government reported an increase in police presence, added garbage pick-up service, cleaning of sewage piping (too much sand after a storm) and clearing of curbs of vendors. Did you know that our Southern Baja State has the lowest number of homicides? We are a safe city, come down to visit!
Can We Stop Beating Our Own Record? International tourism flow to Los Cabos increased 15% from January to July this year, said the FITURCA Director Rodrigo Esponda. Our gorgeous tourism destination is currently connected to 51 cities in Mexico, the U.S., Canada and Spain. Then in the fall, new direct flights from Montreal, Las Vegas, Kansas City and St. Louis MO will be landing here. Great! Let’s welcome them all!
Popular Annual Sailing Race Might End. This year’s Baja Ha-Ha sailing race that takes place at the end of October / early November could be the last one, due to various circumstances. So far, there are 104 vessels registered for this year, all between 30 and 85 feet long. Signing up for the October 30 – November 11 race ends September 10, so if you want to participate, hurry up! The Palapa Society Launches Scholarship Drive. Located in Todos Santos, the Palapa Society school board’s mission is to ensure there is enough funding for students who are yearning for the opportunity to fulfill their academic dreams. Los Cabos, the Only Mexican Destination Promoting. During the recent Virtuoso Travel Week in Las Vegas, our beautiful resort destination was the only one attending from Mexico. During the event, Los Cabos reps met with agents from 280 major travel companies. We also ended up being the only Mexican destination that was invited to the upcoming Expo Platinum Travel in Las Vegas. Hoooray!
La Paz to Begin Pets Registration. In an attempt to regulate the pet population and easily visualize stray animals, the La Paz government is preparing an App to register your dogs and cats before the end of this year. The App will generate a number that has to be engraved in your pets’ tags. Those animals not wearing it will be picked up and sent to a shelter for adoption. Stay tuned for the starting date.
Trash Cans Deployed in La Paz Beach. Finally, the La Paz government is deploying major trash cans on the city beaches. The first one was installed in Tecolote beach, about 20 minutes north of the city, past the Pichilingue port. The signals indicate where to deposit aluminum (beer cans), paper and cardboard, and plastics. The plan is to deploy more trash cans on the most visited beaches.
More Water for La Paz. The water supply agency, (OOMSAPAS) has increased the volume of potable water supplied to La Paz inhabitants from 949 liters per second to 1,043. That’s an additional 94 liters per second, as seven new and repaired water wells have been put in operation. More is needed, but “poco a poco” (little by little) said the La Paz Mayor.
More Celebrities Visit Cabo. This time the visitors were American models, media personalities and socialites Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, along with a few girlfriends. They were here to celebrate their musician friend Justine Skye’s birthday and promote Jenner’s tequila, 818 Blanco. Other celebrities who visit Cabo frequently are Drew Barrymore, George Clooney, Bono, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Oprah Winfrey, and Justin Timberlake, among others. Major Food Fest Returns!The very successful Sabor a Cabo festival will take place this year on Saturday, December 2, at the Club Campestre in San Jose del Cabo. There will be food from 60 different restaurants and wine from 45 wineries. The main artist will be “Juanes,” an excellent Colombian singer with very danceable music. More Water for Neighbors. The community of Las Casitas, located between the small towns of Santa Anita and Caduaño on the road to the East Cape, will receive an additional 20 liters of water per second soon. The government of Los Cabos is pitching in $170,000 USD for the water well digging and equipment. Las Casitas had 44 inhabitants in the 2020 census, it’s so small that even Google could not find a single photo of the community. But they have water!
