In August, the state government was on a roll, hosting ten “Ferias del Empleo” – that’s Job Fairs for those of us who skipped Spanish class. At just one of these events, a whopping 122 companies and government bigwigs were on the hunt, interviewing 821 eager job seekers. But here’s the kicker: even though the minimum wage has shot up, almost doubling in the past three years, the paychecks still aren’t cutting it for many. It’s no wonder folks are thinking outside the 9-to-5 box.
Starting a personal venture, even something as simple as a hot dog cart, might just rake in more dough than a traditional job. It’s a sign of the times when slinging hot dogs can potentially out-earn a desk job!
