The 12th edition of the festival, planned for November this year, has been cancelled. The reason: lack of money funding from sponsors and advertisers. Every year, the festival featured movies, film collaborations, short films, documentaries and actors from the three countries at the Cultural Pavilion in Cabo San Lucas and movie theaters in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. There were plans to extend it to Todos Santos, La Paz and Loreto, but that will not happen anymore. Or maybe in the future. Bummer.
The festival was first launched by the Questro Group, the developers of the San Jose marina, the ME by Melia, Paradisus resort, Casa Dorada resort, the Hilton, Dreams resort, el Ganzo hotel and the Cabo Real golf course.
It was initially coordinated by brothers Scott and Sean Cross, and American movie festivals specialists, but after the first year the Questro Group decided they had learned enough, let them go, and took over themselves. They hired a Mexican director who was able to bring down movie stars such as Nicole Kidman, Monica Bellucci, Dennis Quaid, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Reese Whiterspoon, Edward Norton and Matt Dillon to the red carpet, along with several Latino famous actors. Bummer.
