Amidst the rising temperatures in Los Cabos, the esteemed social and networking group of ladies known as the Los Cabos Tomatoes sought refuge in a little slice of Italy during their recent Dutch Lunch at Alcaravea Gourmet on July 13.
Nestled in downtown Cabo San Lucas, this Italian gem greeted guests with its art-adorned walls, cascading flower vines, and an inviting wooden door that led them into a charming dining space. This article provides a glimpse into the delectable Mediterranean flavors, announcements, and camaraderie that unfolded during this delightful luncheon.
At Alcaravea, named after a spice seed, the Tomatoes indulged in a delectable array of Mediterranean flavors. The luncheon menu featured enticing entrees such as shrimp ravioli with arugula, creamy ricotta, basil, and rose sauce; chicken breast with freshly made Florentina sauce, creamy mushrooms, and spinach; and beef scallop with bacon, Brussels sprouts, and brown sauce. However, the catch of the day, tantalizingly served with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes, crusted Parmesan cheese, and gorgonzola sauce, stole the show as the most popular choice among the group. The meal commenced with a choice of roasted tomato and basil cream soup or a garden salad with homemade Greek dressing, followed by a delightful small dessert.
As the lunch ended, Chef/Owner Enrique Diaz Gerard, wearing his renowned chef’s toque, delivered a gratitude-filled speech. It is worth noting that Alcaravea offers an Executive Luncheon daily, and reservations can be made by calling 624-143-3730.
Amidst the enjoyment of their meals and chilled wine, the Tomatoes took a moment to share important announcements and upcoming community events. The event witnessed the attendance of 41 members and guests, including Susan Nicol from Cabo San Lucas; Jennifer Rubin from Los Angeles; Peggy Rima from McKinney, Texas; Cheri Greaves from Salt Lake City, Utah; Christa Roberts from Seattle, Washington; Megan Smith from Louisiana; Lisa Martin from Scottsdale, Arizona, and Claudia Macias. Marilyn Plank, Membership Director, welcomed new members.
