New U.S. Airline Wants to Fly to Cabo. Breeze Airways, the American low-cost airline headquartered in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, disclosed that it was planning to launch its first international flights with once-weekly operations between Los Angeles International and San Jose del Cabo International Airport. Breeze Airways was founded by David Neeleman, who previously co-founded Morris Air, WestJet, JetBlue, and Azul Linhas Aereas. Welcome!
More Canadians Flocking to Cabo. Thanks to WestJet, which will be adding new flights from Abbotsford, British Columbia. The airline will offer 11 flights a week all year round beginning this Fall/Winter. Let’s see if they do keep those many flights during the summer! Anyways, Welcome Canucks!
One More Airline Will Fly to Cabo . Ultra-low-cost Houston, Texas-based Avelo Airlines has disclosed that the company will fly from Los Angeles to Los Cabos very soon. The first Avelo flight was in April 2021 and this year will launch its first international new routes to the Caribbean, Puerto Rico and Los Cabos. Welcome, Avelo!
Bicycle Race Invitation. Actually, three races, named Tour Locura La Paz (La Paz Craze Tour)starting on August 27, then September 3 and 10 in La Paz. New Pedestrian Bridges OK’d. The city government has stated that two new pedestrian bridges have been approved for Los Cabos. One will be deployed near Costco in Cabo San Lucas, and the second at Cerro Colorado, near the H+ Hospital. The monies are pitched in 50-50 between the state and the city governments. Stay tuned.

Los Cabos Airport Releases Statistics. The GAP Group, which operates the San Jose del Cabo International Airport, announced preliminary terminal passenger traffic figures for the month of July 2023, compared with the same period of 2022. For July 2023, the total number of terminal passengers at GAP’s 12 Mexican airports increased by 11.1%, compared to the same period in 2022. Guadalajara, Los Cabos, Tijuana, and Puerto Vallarta presented an increase in passenger traffic of 13.2%, 9.3%, 7.9%, and 1.5% respectively, compared to June 2022. In Los Cabos, the number of international passengers in July increased by 4.1% and 11.4% from January to July. The number of national passengers showed a 17.5% increase in July and 22.3% from January to July. The number of international passengers didn’t increase that much as summertime is considered “low season,” mostly due to the high 90’s degrees temperatures and humidity.

La Paz Creates Interactive Map for Rainy Season.This new map will help you learn which arroyos (dry river beds) are safe to cross during a storm in the greater La Paz area. New Mexican Airline to Enter the Market. Mexicana Airlines, which went bankrupt 13 years ago, has been acquired by the federal government after negotiating to pay nearly $50 million USD to employees that were laid off. Beginning in September the airline will fly to 20 Mexican destinations with 10 Boeing 737-800 airplanes and prices 20% below the competition. City Government to Build Homes. About 60,000 people are squatting in high-risk areas, which are on the edge of arroyos (dry river beds) that get flooded during the rainy season. The city has decided to build small concrete homes and sell them really cheap to those that qualify. It will also sell 2,000 sq. ft. lots to those who want them. If they qualify. No, Gringos cannot apply.
Tourist Tax at Work.Little by little, the $23.50 tax charged to tourists that spend over 24 hours in our Southern Baja state is accumulating. At last count, the Los Cabos government received over $800 grand for July, which is not as busy as the fall and winter months. The money is being used to pave streets in the barrios and improve elementary schools. Thank you, pilgrims!
Mexican Tourists Flocking to Los Cabos. The Los Cabos Tourism Fund is reporting that arrivals of Mexican tourists have increased by 15%, only by air. The arrivals by ferry boats are not being counted, but the ferry boats from the mainland are arriving full as usual during the summer school vacations. The arrival of foreign tourists only increased by 5% during July. Let’s go camping!
