A collaborative effort between the Southern Baja state government, the Japan-Mexico Partnership Program (JMPP), and JICA Mexico (Japan International Cooperation Agency) is underway to establish a thriving new reef. Strategically positioned between La Paz and San Juan de la Costa, facing El Saladito beach, these deployed structures are set to bring about significant advantages for approximately a thousand local fishermen. This innovative initiative aims to enhance marine biodiversity and foster sustainable fishing practices in the region. By creating a new reef, the project seeks to provide a habitat for a diverse array of marine species, ultimately bolstering the local ecosystem and promoting ecological balance. Furthermore, the endeavor promises to generate economic opportunities and secure the livelihoods of the nearby fishing communities. The partnership between the Southern Baja state government, JMPP, and JICA Mexico showcases the power of collaboration in implementing meaningful environmental initiatives with tangible benefits for the community.
