The National commission of natural protected areas (CONANP) suspended all tours to watch whale sharks and swim with them. The reason is that there are only two of these critters in the La Paz bay, and several boats with locals and tourists wanting to interact with them. Dr. Deni Ramirez, director of the Whale Shark Mexico project believes that the absence of more whale sharks might be due to the low water temperature (19 C) or lack of food, which also happened 10 years ago. Stay tuned.
