AMLO, President of Mexico, announced that the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) will operate a new commercial airline in the 4th quarter of 2023, under the name of Mexicana de Aviacion. Some of you might remember the old airline, which was Mexico’s largest, operated for 89 years and went bankrupt in the summer of 2010. SEDENA has acquired its legal name but it is still unknown if it will hire the old Mexicana employees.
