A day after dozens of UBER drivers closed a busy intersection in Cabo San Lucas in the morning rush hour causing a traffic chaos, the government sat down to listen to them. The state law of transportation does not recognize these types of Apps so they are not legal in our state. However, Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled that, since it is a contract of services between two entities, the App and the customers, it is legal throughout the country. The state has refused to change its regulations but has now sat down with the drivers and said they will be allowed to work under special conditions – which will revealed soon. For sure, the Apps’ drivers cannot pick up passenger from the airport, nor from the major hotels. That’s regular taxi territory. Stay tuned.
