Mexico’s “Tianguis Turistico,” an annual event that gathers tour operators, wholesale travel agencies, airlines and hotels, was held with 1,679 of them, virtually. This is the second year in a row that the event is virtual, due to Covid-19. But it was successful, as buyers from 61 countries attended and a total of 16,094 virtual meetings were held between buyers and sellers of lodging and tourist services. The most “visited” travel destinations during the Tianguis (an indigenous name for open markets) were Los Cabos, Mazatlan, Culiacan, Rocky Point, Isla Mujeres and Valladolid, in the Gulf of Mexico. Had it been held in person, it would have looked like this.
