The announcement that La Paz Beaches will be closed to the public during Semana Santa (Holy Week) that runs from March 28 to April 3 this year, immediately brought 15 percent of cancellations in hotel reservations, said Gabriel Sanelli, manage of the City Express hotel. The top tradition for La Paz (and most of Southern Baja) is to spend the week, or at least the weekend of Semana Santa camping on our gorgeous beaches. But the Covid-19 threat is still here, says the health department, and it is not expected that local visitors respect social distancing while suntanning and partying. The hoteliers are asking to open the beaches at 50 percent of their capacity. Stay tuned.
