That Doesn’t Go There!

The SCT, Mexico’s the communications and transport authority, is repaving parts of the fourlane just outside of Cabo. However, it seems that they are depositing the asphalt right on the arroyo that goes from the WalMart bridge towards Medano beach, between Villas del Palmar and Club Cascadas. This is a huge hazard because if we get a hard rain (remember, we are in the middle of rainy and hurricane season), that asphalt will end up in the ocean – full of oil that will never go away.

This rag reported it to several government agencies, and even the state government’s second in command got involved, as well as the Los Cabos ecology department and the federal Profepa, Mexico’s environmental watchdog. The mountains of asphalt are supposed to be removed in a few days. Stay tuned.
