CULTURAL PAVILION

Every Friday. 7:00 pm. Pavilion Movie Club. A different movie every Friday. Sometimes in English, sometime other languages with Spanish subtitles. August is Alfred Hitchcock month. Free.

August 11. Friday. 7:00 pm. The Pavilion Movie club presents Psycho. (1960). A secretary embezzles $40,000 from her employer's client, goes on the run, and checks into a remote motel run by a young man under the domination of his mother. English with Spanish subtitles. Free.

August 18. Friday. 7:00 pm. The Pavilion Movie club presents Vertigo. (1958). A San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her. English with Spanish subtitles. Free.

August 25. Friday. 7:00 pm. The Pavilion Movie club presents North by Northwest. (1959). A hapless advertising executive is mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies, and is chased across the country. English with Spanish subtitles. Free.

August 7 to 12. Various hours. Theatrical Professional Illumination Workshop by The Arts Professional Creators System from Mexico’s Fine Arts National Institute. This workshop is geared towards arts directors and theatrical experts. Spanish, free. More information: 624-191-4858. 

August 14 to 19. Various hours. Theatrical Costume and Scenography workshop by The Arts Professional Creators System from Mexico’s Fine Arts National Institute. This workshop is geared towards arts directors and theatrical experts. Spanish, free. More information: 624-191-4858. 

August 25. Saturday. 8:00 pm. The Telltale Heart. An play adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe book. Performed by Gesto No Es Teatro. Spanish. Free.  

October 6. Friday. 8:00 pm. Opera Concert. Directed by Daniel Silva and Sarah Vardy, a soprano from the Vienna Opera. With the Studio del Angel Ballet as special guests. Spanish. Tickets available at the Pavilion office.

July 24 to August 11. Monday through Friday. 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Summer courses for kids from 6 to 12 years old. Every Sunday. 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Every two weeks, four hours of PlazArte workshops with live music, dance, and different guest artists. Spanish. Free.

Every Wednesday. 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Danzon Afternoons. Traditional Mexican romantic dance. Everyone is invited to dance. Spanish. Free.

July 15 to August 15. 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A Summer of Reading. Reading lounge with writing and reading poetry, historians and books for all audiences, including books in Braille, English and Yiddish. All activities are free. Spanish with some help in English.   

CABO MARINA

Every Saturday. 5:00 to 10:00 pm. Art, paintings, sculptures, photography, live music, dancing. On the marina, in front of the cultural center. Spanish with some help in English. Free.

MACONDO Upstairs from La Europea at the Walmart plaza

Every Thursday. 5:30 pm. Kids Movie Club. A different movie for children in Spanish.   

EDUSITER At Angel Herrera and Libertad streets

PLAZA EL PESCADOR

Every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Art Fair. Food sampling and wine tasting at the restaurants and shops in the mall. Live music and local artists showcasing their work. Across from the Cabo Azul resort in the hotel zone, San Jose. Free.

The PlazArte Program will continue during renovations, just beside the remodeling area.
